Since there is a wide variety of IT frameworks, regulatory requirements and business requirements that business managers must address and the "origin" and strategy of each component is highly varied,  creation of a unified control framework based on a centralized repository will provide many benefits including reduced compliance costs, increased process analytics and reduced risk.
